UX Writer, Microsoft (July 2016 - current, Redmond, WA)
As part of the content experience team in Microsoft's Windows and Devices Group, I am embedded with UX and visual designers, developers, and project managers creating 3D app experiences for Windows 10. I create content that helps to tell a cohesive and compelling story of our apps to millions of Windows customers. Responsibilities include:

  • Writing crisp, helpful, and friendly user interface copy, in collaboration with UX design teams
  • Creating usability experiments and using user research to guide UX content decisions
  • Developing our support and engagement content strategy, and crafting materials for web and in-app content experiences, including scripts for videos, blog posts, emails, and other communications
  • Collaborating with feature teams to develop internal pitch materials, including video scripts and UI prototypes

Digital Producer, Weber Shandwick (June 2014 - June 2016, New York, NY and Seattle, WA)
On Weber Shandwick's digital brand publishing team, I helped develop custom content marketing strategies for major technology, consumer and B2B brands including Sonos, Electrolux, Ribera y Rueda Spanish Wines and Ricoh, USA,  Inc. My responsibilities included:

  • Pitching new content marketing business to potential clients; most recently, pitching and winning a new scope of work for Sonos’ editorial strategy
  • Writing and editing content for branded editorial websites and across major social platforms, ensuring all copy aligns to larger strategic marketing goals
  • Tracking data trends in Google Analytics and/or Adobe Omniture to inform future story concepts, strategies and executions
  • Developing editorial management processes for daily content marketing engines, in order to manage content in all phases of production, from concept to distribution
  • Working directly with clients to execute on ideas and recommend fresh strategies

  • Launched new online food magazine, acquiring over 20,000 unique visitors to the site within the first four months of going live
  • Recruited and led a team of 30 editors, writers, and photographers, leading weekly brainstorms for story and copy ideas, assigning articles, and overseeing the editorial process from idea to publication
  • Edited, finalized and approved all copy and image content using WordPress, with focus on creating and maintaining the unique tone and voice of the site
  • Analyzed site metrics using Google Analytics, tracking unique visitors and top performing content, to optimize posting schedule and coordinate social media promotion efforts

 Web/Editorial Intern, Good Housekeeping Magazine (Summer 2013, New York, NY)

  • Pitched creative copy and selected stock images for beauty, home and lifestyle web/print sections, with focus on adopting the brand’s unique voice and style to appeal to consumer demographics

  • Analyzed book manuscripts for sale-ability and offered recommendations for story revisions
  • Copyedited legal contracts made between authors and publishers, correcting several crucial discrepancies regarding royalties and author rights for three of the agency’s newest contracts

  • Evaluated front-list catalogs from major publishing houses and selected potential book titles for review based on the specific demographics and attitudes of Fiction Writers Review's target readership
